"A superb Chenin, crafted with brilliance and precision"
“Made from grapes grown on 2.8 hectares of gray clay soils, the 2023 Montlouis Sec Cuvée Touche Mitane offers a fresh, luscious bouquet of candied citrus, white peach, menthol, and spring flowers. Moderately full-bodied and elegant, it is juicy, with lively acidity and a long, enticing finish.” (Robert Parker 2025).

Rated estate (2026 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the estate:
Originally from the Oise region, Xavier Weisskopf established his vineyard (17 hectares of organic land) in 2005. Nothing had set him on this path, but his studies in Chablis introduced him to the world of wine, leading him to the “Viti” in Beaune, then to Gigondas, and finally to the banks of the Loire.

Rated estate (2026 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
Starting out with limited resources in a makeshift cellar in 2005, Clémence and Xavier Weisskopf have managed, through courage and tenacity, to build their own vineyard. For several years now, they have been among the leading producers in Montlouis-sur-Loire. The 17 hectares, spread between Montlouis and Touraine, are farmed Organic. Touche Mitaine (flinty clay), Les Borderies (clay-limestone, 40-year-old vines), Le Grand Poirier (clay-sandy, 67-year-old vines)... A myriad of terroirs has been captured in the bottle, in whites that aim for aromatic nuance, delicacy, and the true expression of Chenin Blanc—whether dry or with residual sugar, depending on the character of the vintage. Wines of great sincerity that delight the palate!

Review and comment by Mr. JEROME M. Posted on March 27, 2026
Rather disappointing. On the nose, fruit aromas and some hints of honeycomb. Unfortunately, on the palate, it’s an austere wine with vegetal aromas (not uncommon in Chenin wines depending on the vintage, especially 2023), but here it’s a bit too pronounced. Paired with a cheese soufflé, the vegetal aspect stands out enormously and is very off-putting and unpleasant. In short, nothing to write home about, no pleasure to be had. It’s a shame—without this unpleasant dominance, you can tell the wine would have a whole other dimension.
