Domaine du Pré Semelé

Domaine du Pré Semelé belongs to the Raimbault family, who have been growing vines for three generations on the hillsides of the hamlet of Maimbray, in the commune of Sury-en-Vaux, 5 km north of Sancerre. Camille and Maurice started the estate in the 1940s with 3 hectares. Maurice's two sons, Claude and Rémy, took over and cultivated up to 12 hectares. In 2001, Rémy's son Julien moved into the estate and began to develop the export business. Domaine du Pré Semelé now covers 14 hectares and produces 60,000 bottles.

In 2009, Rémy's second son, Clément, took over. The estate now covers 18 hectares in the Sancerre appellation, with 14 hectares of Sancerre Blanc, 3 hectares of Sancerre Rouge and 1.5 hectares of Sancerre Rosé.

The Domaine du Pré Semelé practices integrated viticulture with organic tendencies (vines grassed between the rows and mechanically cultivated under the vines). The wines are pure, straightforward and mineral, in the spirit of the clay-limestone terroirs, mainly Kimmeridgian marl, or otherwise known as terres blanches. Currently, around 100,000 bottles are produced, 60% of which are exported, 25% in France, and 15% at the Cave Coopérative.
