Bettane & Desseauve
"A young vintage with undeniable potential!"
A trio of unequal parts Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Grenache that flourish on dolomitic clay-limestone terroir. The nose, fairly discreet at first, opens up to reveal beautiful complexity filled with notes of undergrowth, leather, garrigue, black fruits (blackberry, blueberry), and red fruits (fresh cherry), coffee, mocha, a touch of vanilla, cinnamon, licorice, and immortelle flowers. The palate is velvety and mineral, with tertiary aromas of coffee and undergrowth, as well as fresh black fruits and figs, complemented by hints of cocoa and pepper, ending with a licorice finish.

Wine rating (2025 guide) 92/100 (2021 vintage)
Rated estate Selected (An estate or winery that impressed us with one or more wines from its production, without us being able to give an overall opinion on the style of the entire range)
About the estate:
Carpe Diem, the famous Latin phrase, means "Seize the day without worrying about tomorrow." This motto is taken to heart by Albéric Philippon, who took over the estate in 2013. Located on the clay-limestone terroirs of Cotignac, the estate now covers 30 hectares. Visitors to the region can find the winemaker and his wines every Tuesday at the Cotignac market.

About the estate:
In 2013, Albéric Philipon took over the estate from a family of winegrowers who were retiring. The vineyard is located in Cotignac, in the heart of Provence Verte, and covers 18 hectares. In addition to this, there are 12 hectares located in a neighboring village, which the family has been leasing since 2017. All of the vineyards are cultivated using organic farming methods.
