Bouches du Rhône

Famous for their rosé wines, the vineyards of the Provence-Côte d’Azur region nevertheless offer a wide selection of red and white wines that are just as exceptional. The IGP wines of Bouches-du-Rhône benefit from a Mediterranean climate, with mild winters and hot summers—sometimes even very hot—with temperatures reaching up to 40°C. Rainfall is irregular and often takes the form of violent storms. The Mistral, fierce in the region, has a beneficial effect on the vines. The IGP Bouches-du-Rhône vineyards, which stretch along the coast or wind through the valleys of the hinterland, offer a superb setting with a diverse range of characteristics.

As in all Mediterranean vineyards,the IGP Bouches-du-Rhône features a varied selection of grape varieties. Forthe Bouches-du-Rhône redIGP, the varieties include Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Carignan, Cabernet Franc, Mourvèdre, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Counoise. Forthe red and whiteBouches-du-Rhône IGP, winemakers primarily use Ugni Blanc, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Grenache Blanc, and Rolle. Muscat à Petits Grains, Chasan, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon are also found. Of particular note are the IGP wines from the Bouches-du-Rhône produced by Château Revelette and Domaine de Trévallon.
