Château Mourgues du Grès

Château Mourgues du Grès is located in the heart of the Costières de Nîmes, in the southern part of the Rhône Valley. This 55-hectare estate stretches across hillsides and terraces whose terroir consists of pebbles known as “grès.” It enjoys a prime location on the southern slope of the Costière, nestled between orchards and garrigue.

An agricultural engineer and oenologist, François Collard cut his teeth at Château-Laffite in the Médoc. In 1990, he decided to return to the family estate, Château Mourgues du Grès, to showcase the diversity of the terroir by drawing on the richness of its grape varieties. Meticulous work in the vineyard, combined with a spirit of innovation, led to the first bottling with the 1993 vintage. The range of wines from Château Mourgues du Grès was soon expanded to include a gourmet rosé, anticipating a trend that is now well established. The quality and originality of Château Mourgues du Grès’s wines, along with the consistency of its vintages, are regularly recognized by the national and international press. This recognition has always inspired the estate’s owner to rise to the challenge, with each vintage, of producing wines that reflect the terroir, are authentic, and bring pleasure.
