“This red wine is a delight, with a clean nose of red berries that evolves into blackcurrant upon aeration. It has a clean attack, a round mid-palate, pronounced aromas highlighting blackcurrant and coffee, fine tannins, and a peppery finish: a composition without a single flaw.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2020) This Côtes-du-Rhône kicks off the “Dame Rousse” range from Domaine de la Mordorée: a most delicious introduction!

Rated estate (2024 guide): 4*Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the estate:

The estate produces highly expressive wines from the finest vineyards in Vaucluse and Gard. Every effort is made with deep respect for the terroirs, driven by a commitment to producing wines that live up to their full potential. Madeleine Delorme, alongside her daughter Ambre, continues to work with great care and determination, upholding the spirit of excellence that defines both the estate and this winemaking family. A superb range of salty, full-bodied whites and deep, delicate reds, enlivened by a refreshing vibrancy and a perfectly balanced profile. The estate is evolving its style toward wines that are increasingly refined and precise. The fourth star is fast approaching.

Rated wine (2020 guide) Mentioned (Successful wine)

Rated Estate (2024 Guide) Award-Winning Wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the wine:

This red wine offers a rich, indulgent character, with a clean nose of red berries that evolves into blackcurrant notes as it opens up. It has a clean attack, a round mid-palate, pronounced aromas that highlight blackcurrant and coffee, fine tannins, and a peppery finish: a composition without a single flaw.

About the estate:

Founded in 1986 by Francis Delorme and his son Christophe, the 58-hectare estate (certified organic and biodynamic) is spread across 38 plots and eight municipalities. Following Christophe’s untimely death in 2015, his wife Madeleine and their daughter Ambre took over the reins of the estate. Advocates of low yields, the Delormes produce their vintages with disconcerting ease, whether in Tavel—their original stronghold—Lirac, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, or “simple” Côtes-du-Rhône. A must-try.
