Domaine de la Mordorée - Côtes-du-Rhône rouge 2020
90/100
James Suckling
"A most delicious introduction!
"Lovely ripe cherries balance generous, medium-dry tannins and lively acidity well. The alcohol adds a warm touch to the clean finish." (James Suckling 2022) This Côtes-du-Rhône opens the ball in the Domaine de la Mordorée range. A very fruity red, with aromas of violets and blackcurrants on the nose, with a great deal of elegance, and a palate that plays on finesse, with fine, melted tannins and good length.

Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2024) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)
About the domain :
The domaine offers expressive wines from the finest crus of the Vaucluse and Gard regions. Everything is done with the utmost respect for the terroirs, with the determination to produce wines worthy of their potential. Madeleine Delorme, accompanied by her daughter Ambre, carry on with great care and determination in the spirit of excellence that is the hallmark of the domaine and this winegrowing family. A superb range of saline, fleshy whites and deep, delicate reds, driven by thirst-quenching tension and balance. The domaine's style is increasingly racy and precise. The fourth star is fast approaching.

About the domain :
Created in 1986 by Francis Delorme and his son Christophe, the 58-hectare estate (certified organic and biodynamic) is spread over 38 parcels and eight communes. Following Christophe's untimely death in 2015, his wife Madeleine and their daughter Ambre took over the reins of the estate. A firm believer in low yields, the Delorme family is equally at home with tavel, lirac, châteauneuf-du-pape and "simple" côtes-du-rhône. Not to be missed.

A wildly fruity, powerful CDR with great aromatic complexity, the result of a blend of five young grape varieties. Fresh yet slightly tannic on the palate. Finishes delicately spicy and a little peppery. Score of 3.6. Ideally, we should wait until at least 2023 before opening this bottle. In any case, it was deliberately tested prematurely with marinated pig's spiders, enhanced by a hint of Espelette pepper.
