“A generous, dense, and textured red wine, with aromas of blackberries, chocolate wafers, roasted black pepper, and sweet spices on the nose. It is full-bodied, with velvety tannins. The palate is generous with notes of sweet black fruit, offering great concentration and weight. A hint of spice brings liveliness and intensity to the long finish.” (James Suckling 2024)

Estate rated "Recommended" (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
Made from old vines located at higher elevations within the appellation, Xavier Vignon’s 2022 Gigondas is a co-fermented blend of 95% Grenache and 5% Mourvèdre, aged in a large wooden vat. Offering aromas of leather and red and black cherries, it is full-bodied and supple, with an almost creamy texture and a lush, easy-drinking finish.
Wine Enthusiast
Wine rated (2025 guide) 91/100
About the wine:
The nose is immediately generous and alluring, with a lush, exuberant quality that draws you in. On the palate, it displays structural balance despite a hint of glycerin. Still somewhat closed, even after some time in the glass, the wine hints at a deeper complexity that has yet to emerge. Give it time—keep it until 2032 to allow these layers to fully reveal themselves.

About the wine:
Xavier Vignon's 2022 Gigondas, made from fully destemmed Grenache and Mourvèdre grapes, has an alcohol content of 15%. It reveals aromas of ripe strawberry, raspberry, white pepper, dried herbs, and hints of mint. Ripe tannins lend a lovely structure to this well-balanced 2022 Gigondas, which shows great potential.

A well-balanced wine with a clean, unpretentious palate. A straightforward, elegant, and charming wine.

I love Gigondas wines, and I can't say this one disappointed me, but the real shame is that I tasted it shortly after a 2015 Gigondas—whose origin I'll keep to myself—so naturally it didn't quite measure up. I'm going to let it age in the cellar and will let you know how it turns out in a few years.

Though still in its early stages, this Gigondas already makes a strong impression with its power, body, and aromatic complexity. It also offers exceptional concentration and depth in a 2019 vintage of excellent structure. It displays beautiful purity and an abundance of stewed fruit intertwined with spices. A very creamy texture is complemented by a pleasant freshness of orange peel and enhanced by ripe, juicy tannins providing structure, though the finish is a bit short and slightly peppery. Its fine structure gives it excellent aging potential, during which it should continue to improve. Very good value for money. Braised Salers beef ribs cooked with vine shoots, served with Provençal-style tomatoes, pair perfectly with it. Score = 4.2.

Excellent on the nose, but lacks length on the finish. Best tasted again in 4–5 years.
