“One of the few Vignon wines aged in new oak (25%), the 2019 Rasteau is a blend dominated by Grenache, but with smaller amounts of Syrah and Mourvèdre. Infused with aromas of garrigue and green peppercorns, it offers a mix of berries on the medium- to full-bodied palate, with tannins that are slightly more pronounced than those of Vignon’s other wines.” (Wine Advocate 2020)

About the wine:
Nice freshness and intense fruit; the tannins aren't too dry or heavy—though they are robust. Harmonious, with some underlying complexity; it should develop more body over time. Long finish. The oak works well (25% new oak); it doesn't overwhelm the fruit.

That said, it is by no means unapproachable, and while it can be cellared for about another year, it should be enjoyed within the next 5 to 7 years.

Tasted in August 2024. Bright, crystal-clear color. The nose offers complex, full-bodied fruit aromas. The palate is silky, nicely extending the nose and offering good length.
