Rated 2** stars (Successful production)

About the estate:

Dr. Parcé had undeniably left his mark on the estate and the Banyuls appellation as a whole, rooted in its magnificent schist terroirs. As for the Collioures—that is, the dry wines produced in the same geographical area—they have, until now, provided a good indication of this terroir and its potential. The challenge is great for Jean-Michel Parcé, the son, to maintain this high standard of quality.

Wine rated (2000 guide) 91/100 (Excellent wine)

About the wine:

Jean-Michel Parcé created a wine (in honor of his father) in the hope that it would introduce young wine enthusiasts to the extraordinary secondary aromas found in slightly oxidized wines. This cuvée is produced using the Solera method, which involves blending several vintages while controlling oxidation. The Banyuls Cuvée du Dr. André Parcé is the result of a blend of three vintages of Banyuls Rimage. With an intense ruby color and a slightly golden rim, this wine reveals aromas of fresh cedar, mocha, and cigar. Medium-bodied, with a silky texture and wonderful liveliness, it is enveloped in notes of plum and blackberry, as well as a hint of café au lait. This beautifully crafted wine, with its long finish, has the potential to age for another twenty years or so.

About the estate:

Le Mas Blanc boasts the largest vineyards in Banyuls. It has been owned by the same family since 1639—the Parcé family, led by Dr. Parcé, a prominent local figure who passed away in 1998 and who played a leading role in the estate for many years.
