Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
2-star rating (Successful production)
About the estate:
Dr. Parcé had undoubtedly left his mark on the estate and the Banyuls appellation as a whole, which is based on magnificent schist terroirs. The Collioures wines, i.e. the dry wines produced in the same geographical area, have until now given a good idea of this terroir and its potential. The challenge is great for Jean-Michel Parcé, the son, to maintain this level of quality.

Wine rating (2000 guide) 91/100 (Outstanding wine)
About wine:
Jean-Michel Parcé created a wine (in honor of his father) in the hope that it would guide young wine lovers towards the extraordinary secondary aromas that can be found in slightly oxidized wines. This cuvée is made using the Solera method, which consists of blending several vintages while controlling oxidation. The Banyuls Cuvée du Dr André Parcé is the result of a blend of three vintages of Banyuls Rimage. With an intense ruby color and a slightly golden rim, this wine reveals aromas of fresh cedar wood, mocha, and cigar. Medium-bodied, with a satiny texture and wonderfully lively, it is enveloped in notes of plum and blackberry, as well as a touch of coffee cream. This wine has a long finish and is very well crafted, with the potential to age for another twenty years.

Rated estate (2011 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)
About the estate:
Le Mas Blanc has the largest vineyards in Banyuls. It has belonged to the same family since 1639, that of Dr. Parcé, a prominent local figure who passed away in 1998 and who was a driving force behind the estate for many years.

Delicious as an aperitif, on a chocolate cake, or for something a little more original, with Roquefort cheese.

I knew, appreciated, and bought Dr. Parcé's Banyuls wines: I'm not sure he would have been proud of the tribute, even for an entry-level vintage.

Date: 04/02/12 Ageing potential: wait 1-2 years Tasting notes: Serve CHILLED. The nose is not overly woody, with toasted notes. The palate is a little heavy and sweet (best served chilled). Food and wine pairing: Excellent the day after on pecorino and sarde (cheese). Glass: FRUITY R

A wine I didn't like. A little overcooked and no balance between fruit and alcohol.
