“This is a serious, dense, and powerful wine with a structure that is certainly rich but will continue to soften with cellaring, blending into a beautiful, flavorful fruit profile. For those who can’t wait, decanting will allow it to pair perfectly with some fine meats in sauce. ” (Les Meilleurs Vins de France - Gault Millau). A dense and powerful Bergerac, with lovely aromas of black fruit and licorice.

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2014 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)
Winery rated 1 star (A high-quality, recommended wine that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About the wine:
This 100% Merlot, made from grapes selected from plots planted on marl soil, has been aged for two years in oak. Full-bodied and well-structured, with notes of black fruit and licorice, it is round and full-bodied without being heavy. The finish has good structure.
About the estate:
Isabelle Carles and Franck Pascal, who moved to Vélines in 2000, have chosen to produce pure, sulfur-free wines that are both easy to drink and fruity—wines meant to be enjoyed. Certified biodynamic since the 2011 vintage, the 19-hectare estate has always been managed according to the principles of organic farming, in order to preserve both the environment and their health. It was a wise decision, for without falling into the trap of natural wine—where fermentation runs wild—they produce a lovely, fairly consistent range, crafted by terroir, without technical fuss, in the Burgundian style.

About the wine:
Le Coeur de Foudre 2010, a pure Merlot from a specific micro-terroir, boasts a magnificent, refined texture.
About the estate:
Located on clay-limestone soil overlooking the right bank of the Dordogne, this estate stands out as one of the driving forces behind Bergerac’s renaissance. Isabelle Carles and Franck Pascal craft lively, pure wines with intense character and remarkable freshness, which they offer at very affordable prices. The reds are sulfur-free and contain no additives, even at bottling. This approach is masterfully executed: after aeration, the wines remain clean and well-structured, with perfect, natural acidity.
