Jonc-Blanc - Racine 2018
90/100
RVF
This wine, a Bordeaux blend (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon), strives for the perfect balance between concentration, freshness, and power. It should be decanted to allow it time to fully express its complexity and aromas of blackcurrant buds, raspberry, sap, and mocha. For those willing to wait, you’ll be surprised by its aging potential!

Bettane & Desseauve
Winery rated 1*Star (A high-quality, recommended production that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About the estate:
Isabelle Carles and Franck Pascal, who moved to Vélines in 2000, have chosen to produce pure, sulfur-free wines that are both easy to drink and fruity—wines meant to be enjoyed. Certified biodynamic since the 2011 vintage, the 19-hectare estate has always been managed according to the principles of organic farming, in order to preserve both the environment and their health. It was a wise decision, for without falling into the trap of natural wine—where fermentation runs wild—they produce a lovely, fairly consistent range, crafted according to the terroir, without technical fuss, in the Burgundian style.

Rated estate (2021 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
Located on clay-limestone soil overlooking the right bank of the Dordogne, this estate has emerged as one of the driving forces behind Bergerac’s renaissance. Isabelle Carles and Franck Pascal craft lively, pure wines with intense character and remarkable freshness, all offered at very affordable prices. The reds are sulfur-free and contain no additives, even at bottling. This approach is masterfully executed: after aeration, the wines remain clean and well-structured, with perfect, natural acidity.
