Bettane & Desseauve

"The nose is very complex and appealing, with very pure aromas of crushed fruit mingling with almond and cocoa notes. The palate is concentrated and well-structured, with well-extracted tannins. The toasted oak aging will mellow . Leave to age." (Le Guide Bettane & Desseauve des Vins de France 2017)

Wine rated (2017 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2026 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About wine:

The nose is very complex and appealing, with very pure aromas of crushed fruit mingling with almond and cocoa notes. The palate is concentrated and well-structured, with well-extracted tannins. The toasted oak aging will mellow. Leave to age.

About the estate:

Acquired in 2046 by the Bortolussi family, it is managed by sisters Claire and Marion, while Lionel Osmin is responsible for marketing. The estate is committed to promoting biodiversity in the vineyard (HVE3 certification obtained). The quality of the vintages is consistent, and the wines combine full-bodied structure with finesse. An unmissable destination.

Rated estate (2025 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the estate:

Founded around 1850, this family estate has been passed down through six generations. Following in the footsteps of his father Louis, Didier Barré, who took over in 1983, contributed to the revival of Madiran, of which he was one of the standard-bearers. In 2017, sisters Claire and Marion Bortolussi (daughters of Alain Bortolussi of Ch. Viella) took over the reins of this flagship 25-hectare estate, forming a partnership with wine merchant Lionel Osmin to manage the estate and market its wines. The conversion to organic farming began in 2020.
