Berthoumieu Estate
Domaine Berthoumieu is located north of the Pyrenees, equidistant from the Atlantic Ocean and the Pyrenean mountains, in the Madiran appellation. Domaine Berthoumieu was purchased in 2018 by the Bertolussi family, who also own Château Viella.

Domaine Berthoumieu covers two typical soil types: a clay-stony plateau that produces powerful yet velvety AOC Madiran wines with excellent aging potential, and a clay-loam-gravelly slope that is more conducive to fruity wines with medium aging potential. Together, these make up the bulk of the 25 hectares of vineyards at Domaine Berthoumieu, which has Madiran AOC status.

The Bortolussi sisters, Claire and Marion, are now at the helm of Domaine Berthoumieu. Daughters of Alain Bortolussi of Château Viella, they have formed a partnership with wine merchant Lionel Osmin.
