"The best wine from this historic estate is almost entirely with Tannat, which gives it a strong, dense structure. But the Tannat tannins are balanced by the bold, ripe concentration of black fruit. This wine is still in development and will probably be ready from 2022." (Wine Enthusiast)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 15/20 (Very good wine)
Domaine rated (guide 2026) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the wine:
Very well matured, spicy, straightforward and sincere, it remains a timeless classic. Ripe fruit accompanied by spices, menthol and licorice. Decant.
About the domain :
Acquired in 2046 by the Bortolussi family, it is managed by sisters Claire and Marion, while sales are handled by Lionel Osmin. The estate is committed to biodiversity in the vineyard (HVE3 certification acquired). The quality of the cuvées is constant, and the wines combine fullness of constitution and finesse. An address not to be missed.
Guide Hachette des vins
Domaine noté (guide 2025) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the domain :
Founded around 1850, this family-run estate has seen six successive generations. Following in the footsteps of his father Louis, Didier Barré, who settled here in 1983, contributed to the revival of Madiran, of which he was one of the standard-bearers. In 2017, sisters Claire and Marion Bortolussi (daughters of Alain Bortolussi of Ch. Viella) took over the destiny of this flagship 25-hectare estate, forging a partnership with négociant Lionel Osmin to run the business and market the cuvées. Organic conversion has been underway since 2020.

Powerful, still a little rough, but should smooth out with age.
