"Excellent value for the money"

On the nose, it reveals distinct notes of blackcurrant, blackberries, and raspberries, accompanied by subtle spicy notes. On the palate, it is a generous, aromatic wine with velvety tannins. A wonderful introduction!

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated Estate (2025 Guide) Award-Winning Wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the estate:

Founded around 1850, this family-owned estate has been passed down through six generations. Following in the footsteps of his father, Louis, Didier Barré, who took over in 1983, helped revitalize Madiran, becoming one of its leading advocates. In 2017, sisters Claire and Marion Bortolussi (daughters of Alain Bortolussi of Château Viella) took the reins of this flagship 25-hectare estate by forming a partnership with wine merchant Lionel Osmin to manage the vineyard and market the wines. The transition to organic farming began in 2020.
