"Exceptional wine"

Chappaz's 2018 Grain Arvine de Fully is slightly sweet, but what an amazing, brilliant, and sparkling wine! The bouquet is as bright as a sunny winter day in Valais and smells of flint reminiscent of gunpowder, as well as bright and precise fruit aromas. [...] The palate is lush, intense, and concentrated, but also pure and spicy. The finish is very elegant, with perfectly ripe and intense fruit, but the mineral structure ultimately plays the leading role. It is so salty, and the sweetness comes solely from the ripe fruit. The finish is extremely long. This is a world-class wine that straddles the worlds of dry and sweet. [...] The finish of this Arvine is extremely long, complex and salty, with great purity, precision and freshness." (Wine Advocate 2018 - Taster)

About wine:

Chappaz's 2018 Grain Arvine de Fully is slightly sweet, but what an amazing, brilliant, sparkling wine! The bouquet is as bright as a sunny winter's day in Valais and smells of flint reminiscent of gunpowder, as well as bright and precise fruit aromas. It reminds me a little of Condrieu. This is a wine entirely of its terroir, and any attempt to guess the grape variety is a bad idea. The palate is lush, intense, and concentrated, but also pure and spicy. The finish is very elegant, with perfectly ripe and intense fruit, but the mineral structure ultimately plays the leading role. It is so saline, and the sweetness comes solely from the ripe fruit. The finish is extremely long. This is a world-class wine that straddles the worlds of dry and sweet. Molitor's best green capsules come to mind. The finish of this Arvine is extremely long, complex and salty, with great purity, precision and freshness. It can age for decades and rival any German Riesling. 14.9% alcohol plus 12 grams of residual sugar. Tasted in January 2020.
