This unique environment, combined with a variety of indigenous grape varieties—such as Petite Arvine, Humagne Rouge, and Cornalin—as well as others like Syrah and Marsanne, which are well-suited to this high Rhône valley, creates the ideal conditions for crafting unique wines. Marie-Thérèse Chappaz ’s biodynamic approach enhances this uniqueness, producing wines that consistently receive acclaim from wine journalists and renowned chefs. The walls and terraces are emblematic of Swiss vineyards along the Rhône Valley. Built by generations of winemakers, they are restored and subsidized if rebuilt without mortar, using dry stone, thus creating an ideal habitat for lizards. Today, if all the stone walls in Valais were laid end to end, they would stretch to half the length of the Great Wall of China—more than 3,000 km.
