Marie-Thérèse Chappaz’ s biodynamic approach enhances this uniqueness to produce wines that are regularly noted by wine journalists and top chefs. The walls and terraces are emblematic of Swiss vineyards along the Rhône Valley. Built by generations of winemakers, they are restored and subsidized if rebuilt without mortar, using dry stone, thus creating an ideal habitat for lizards. Today, if all the walls in Valais were laid end to end, they would stretch to half the length of the Great Wall of China—over 3,000 km.
