"Black cherries, fresh plums, sandalwood, peach pits, sage, and cloves on the nose of this delightfully refined and complex red. It is medium-bodied to full-bodied, intense yet full of finesse and elegance, with firm, very fine tannins. Long, persistent, and delicious, with a beautiful interplay between fruit and spice. I love this wine. Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache, Carignan, Cinsault, Tinta Barocca, and Pinotage. It’s ready to drink now, but will be even better after a few years.” (James Suckling 2025)

Wine rated (2025 guide) 96/100
About the wine:
The 2023 Columella is the usual blend of seven grape varieties. It has a fairly intense bouquet, with notes of red and black fruits, cigar box, potpourri, and a slight hint of the sea. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with fine tannins, a soft mouthfeel, lovely balance, and a long, tender finish. This Columella offers wonderful clarity that will provide many years of drinking pleasure. It is right up there with the best wines produced by Sadie. 2028–2050
