"Black cherries, fresh plums, sandalwood, peach pits, sage and cloves on the nose of this deliciously refined and complex red. Medium- to full-bodied, intense yet full of finesse and elegance, with firm yet very fine tannins. Long, continuous and delicious, with a lovely interplay of fruit and spice. I love this wine. Syrah, mourvèdre, grenache, carignan, cinsault, tinta barocca and pinotage. It's already ready to drink, but will be even better after a few years." (James Suckling 2025)

Wine rated (2025 guide) 96/100
About the wine:
Columella 2023 is the usual blend of seven grape varieties. It has a fairly intense bouquet, with a mix of red and black fruits, cigar box, potpourri and a slight marine influence. The palate is medium-bodied, with fine tannins, a soft grip, good balance and a long, tender finish. This Columella offers a wonderful transparency that will provide many years of tasting pleasure. It's right up there with the best Sadie wines. 2028-2050
