"This new vintage of Pofadder is the fruitiest ever tasted by Eben Sadie, and judged excellent by Vinous, a delight."

"It will seduce you with its aromas of pepper, citrus peel, rosemary, red cherries and red currants. Extremely fresh and silky, with medium body and fine, harmonious tannins. Elegant, but with tension and texture. 100% Cinsault. Drink or cellar. (James Suckling 2025)

Wine rated (2025 guide) 94/100

About the wine:

"The Pofadder 2024 is the fruitiest I've ever seen," remarks Eben Sadie. "A lot of people harvest early to get a Burgundian style, but this terroir allows for full ripeness at 13% alcohol. The schist soil is very important for this, as the vines struggle a bit here." It has a crystalline bouquet with mineral aromas of red fruit and bergamot that burst from the glass without restraint. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, a soft grip and a powdery texture, with a mineral/stone finish that gives it a slight fragility. This Pofadder offers great transparency. Excellent. 2027-2045
