"Excellent concentration, full-bodied, fine-grained tannins and bright acidity all add up to a medium-bodied palate. Needs a little aeration for its spice, licorice and sour cherry aromas to blossom. Very structured but silky, long and fresh finish. Needs a little time to come into its own". (James Suckling 2025)

Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2024) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)
About the domain :
Jacky Barthelmé sums it up bluntly: "We're very happy with 2021 because it was a winemaker's vintage. Those who were in the vineyards had grapes. It didn't just happen. And the tasting of the range proves him right: Pinot Noirs as successful as ever, beautiful Rieslings, and even Pinot Gris with a drier balance than in the past, which can only delight us.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Domaine rated (guide 2024) 3*Stars (They represent the excellence of the French vineyard. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wines is always a magical experience)
About the domain :
The estate, born of the union of the Mann and Barthelmé families, two great winegrowing lines dating back to the 17th century, produces wines of the highest quality, emblematic of what Alsace can produce. Maurice, an inspired biodynamist and dowser in his spare time, has brought purity to his wines through meticulous work in the vineyard. Jacky and his son Antoine have a highly developed sense of winemaking for both whites and reds. The wines' balance, digestibility and depth make them models for all wine lovers. Their four reds are at the top of Alsace production and among the finest in France. This success has made them rare wines.
Jancis Robinson
Wine rated (2025 guide) 17,5/20
About the wine:
Pale lime green color. The initial aromas are a sweet note of yeast bread combined with a granite minerality. This is followed by dragon fruit and lime. The palate is very pure and refined, with Riesling acidity that tickles the palate, making you want to eat, and an intriguing juiciness reminiscent of pineapple. (BR)
