Robert Parker
“The 2017 Chablis 1er Cru Montmain reveals aromas of green apple, spring flowers, and damp stones. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, full-flavored, and supple, with a succulent, open heart, juicy acidity, and a precise finish.” (Wine Advocate 2019)

About the estate:
A long-established family in Chablis, the Michels cultivate the finest vineyards, both Premier Cru and Grand Cru. The estate is also one of the very few to offer the Grenouilles grand cru, of which La Chablisienne remains the primary producer. Since 1969, winemaking has been carried out in stainless steel tanks, so the wines here often start out quietly in the bottle, but their minerality comes through effortlessly after a few years of aging.

About the wine:
The 2017 Chablis 1er Cru Montmain reveals aromas of green apple, spring flowers, and damp stones. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, full-flavored, and supple, with a succulent, open heart, juicy acidity, and a precise finish. It lacks the tension and density of Montmain’s best vintages, but it is a charming wine that will provide plenty of enjoyment in the short term.

About the wine:
Quite bold, yet still somewhat reserved: a serious, well-structured wine.
