"The 2017 Chablis Butteaux 1er Cru presents itself very well, offering lovely aromas of lemon zest, beeswax, ripe apple, and oyster shell. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, deep, and nicely concentrated, with a mellow extract, ripe acidity, and a long, well-defined finish." (Wine Advocate 2019) Typical of Chablis!

3-star rating (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)
About the estate:
An old Chablis family, the Michels cultivate the best areas, both premier crus and grands crus. The estate is also one of the very few to offer the Grand Cru Grenouilles, whose main producer remains La Chablisienne. Since 1969, the wines have been vinified in stainless steel vats, so they often start out discreetly in the bottle, but their minerality reveals itself beautifully after a few years of aging.

About wine:
The Chablis Butteaux 1er Cru 2017 presents itself very well, offering lovely aromas of lemon zest, beeswax, ripe apple, and oyster shell. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, deep and nicely concentrated, with a mellow dry extract, ripe acids and a long, well-defined finish. This is a 2017 that nods to the 2015 vintage in terms of structure and scale, but it is well-balanced and will be rewarded after some time in the bottle.

About wine:
Nice volume and delicious, ripe fruit in Butteaux, a well-made and rather early wine.

Fans of fairly young Chablis Premier Cru wines will find this one a very good experience.
