“The 2017 Chablis Butteaux 1er Cru makes a very good impression, offering lovely aromas of lemon zest, beeswax, ripe apple, and oyster shell. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, deep, and nicely concentrated, with a smooth dry extract, ripe acidity, and a long, well-defined finish.” (Wine Advocate 2019) Classic Chablis!

About the estate:
A long-established family in Chablis, the Michels cultivate the finest vineyards, both Premier Cru and Grand Cru. The estate is also one of the very few to offer the Grenouilles grand cru, of which La Chablisienne remains the primary producer. Since 1969, winemaking has been carried out in stainless steel tanks, so the wines here often start out quietly in the bottle, but their minerality comes through effortlessly after a few years of aging.

This 2017 nods to the 2015 vintage in terms of structure and scale, but it is well-balanced and will reward further aging in the bottle.
