“A truly great Burgundy”

"The 2020 Corton Grand Cru Le Rognet et Corton performed very well, opening up in the glass with aromas of black berries, spices, dark chocolate, loamy earth, and vine smoke. Medium-bodied to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with lively acidity, fine, chalky tannins, and a long, penetrating finish, this is one of the best reds from the Buisson brothers that I have tasted.” (Wine Advocate -2022)

Eye

A beautiful dress in a deep red

Nose

When young, the Rognet-et-Corton offers notes of spicy fruit, blackcurrant, and kirsch. As it ages, it develops aromas of forest floor, truffles, and leather.

Palate

A wine that offers a real presence and beautiful intensity while retaining its finesse and elegance. It embodies everything one expects from an exceptional Burgundy Grand Cru red: the very essence of seductive Pinot Noir. This great charmer likes to play hard to get and is best enjoyed

Rated estate (2023 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)

About the estate:

Frédérick and Franck Buisson, whose family has lived in the village since the 12th century, represent the eighth generation of winemakers at this historic Saint-Romain estate. Certified by Ecocert since 2012, they practice viticulture and winemaking in the most natural way possible. The red wines, which always contain a small amount of whole clusters, offer a precise expression of their terroir, advocating for the rediscovery of a Saint-Romain that we have rarely seen at this level. The precise whites are no exception.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 17,5/20 (Great wine)

Rated estate (2023 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

Highly expressive, with aromas of red berries and sweet spices, it offers a lovely contrast between a silky attack and a dense mid-palate. Powerful yet refined and ripe tannins lend it a long finish. An intense grand cru with depth, built to age for many years.

About the estate:

Frédéric, the winemaker, and Franck, the sales manager, run one of the largest estates in the southern part of the Côte de Beaune. Having practiced organic farming—certified since 2009—they made the transition to biodynamic farming in 2018. For the past ten years, they have been following the lunar calendar for bottling. Their meticulous work in the vineyard and cellar allows them to produce deep, distinguished wines that age well. This is an estate that beautifully showcases the Saint-Romain appellation in both red and white wines; the wines are refined, precise, and elegant. A range of wines that fully deserves its first star.
