"A very great Burgundy"

"The Corton Grand Cru Le Rognet and Corton 2020 has developed very well, opening up in the glass with aromas of black berries, spices, dark chocolate, loamy earth, and vine smoke. Medium-bodied to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with lively acidity, fine, chalky tannins, and a long, penetrating finish, this is one of the best Buisson brothers' reds I have tasted." When young, Rognet-et-Corton exudes notes of spicy fruit, blackcurrant, and kirsch. As it ages, it develops aromas of undergrowth, truffles, and leather.

Mouth

A wine that offers real presence and beautiful intensity while retaining its finesse and elegance. It is everything you would expect from an excellent Burgundy red Grand Cru: the embodiment of seductive Pinot Noir. This great charmer likes to be desired and is best enjoyed

Rated estate (2023 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

Frédérick and Franck Buisson, whose family has been present in the village since the 12th century, represent the eighth generation of winegrowers on this historic estate in Saint-Romain. Certified by Ecocert since 2012, they practice viticulture and oenology in the most natural way possible. The red wines, which always contain a few whole grapes, offer a precise reflection of their terroir, encouraging us to rediscover a Saint-Romain that we have not often seen at this level. The precise white wines are not to be outdone.

Rated estate (2023 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good-quality wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About wine:

Very expressive with aromas of red fruit and sweet spices, it offers a lovely contrast between a silky attack and a dense mid-palate. Powerful yet refined and ripe tannins give it length. An intense grand cru with depth, built for long aging.

About the estate:

Frédéric, winemaker, and Franck, sales representative, manage one of the largest estates in the southern Côte de Beaune. Certified organic since 2009, they took the leap to biodynamics in 2018. For ten years now, they have been following the lunar calendar for bottling. Serious work in the vineyard and in the cellar enables them to produce deep, racy wines that age well. This is an estate that perfectly showcases the Saint-Romain appellation in both red and white wines, which are refined, precise, and elegant. A range of wines that richly deserves its first star.
