"A truly great Burgundy"

"The 2022 Corton Le Rognet-et-Corton Grand Cru, made from approximately 40% whole clusters, has a closed and stubborn nose that refuses to open up despite vigorous aeration. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with a supple, slightly candied attack; notes of marmalade and orange zest infuse the red fruit, leading to a candied finish.” (Vinous 2023)

Rated estate (2023 guide): 3*Stars (High-quality production that serves as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

Frédérick and Franck Buisson, whose family has lived in the village since the 12th century, represent the eighth generation of winemakers at this historic estate in Saint-Romain. Écocert-certified since 2012, they practice viticulture and winemaking using the most natural methods possible. The red wines, which always contain a small proportion of whole clusters, offer a precise expression of their terroir, championing the rediscovery of a Saint-Romain that we have rarely seen at this level. The precise white wines are equally impressive.

Rated Estate (2023 Guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a good standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

Frédéric, the winemaker, and Franck, the sales manager, run one of the largest estates in the southern part of the Côte de Beaune. Having practiced organic farming—certified since 2009—they made the transition to biodynamic farming in 2018. For the past ten years, they have been following the lunar calendar for their bottling. Their meticulous work in the vineyard and cellar allows them to produce deep, distinguished wines that age well. This is an estate that beautifully showcases the Saint-Romain appellation in both reds and whites; the wines are refined, precise, and elegant. A range of wines that fully deserves its first star.
