“The 2011 Poulsard Vieilles Vignes, vinified without sulfur, delights with its lively, unadorned fruit and a subtle floral freshness. ” (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2013 - RVF). This Vieilles Vignes shines with its lively and velvety palate, featuring tannins that are still present but very refined.

Rated estate (2020 guide): 4* Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the estate:

Sparkling like his crémants, energetic like his whites, approachable like his reds, and generous like his yellow wines, Stéphane Tissot is undoubtedly the driving force behind the Jura wine region. Taking the reins of the family estate in 1993 alongside his wife Bénédicte, he has successfully revealed the full richness of the Jura terroirs through exceptional single-vineyard wines. The variety of the range is matched only by the quality and purity of the wines, as well as the winemaker’s masterful craftsmanship and tireless experimentation. High-density trellised vineyards, mass selection, aging in amphorae, extended macerations, and sulfur-free wines are all strings to Stéphane Tissot’s bow. Some fifty hectares of vineyards, cultivated biodynamically, form one of the region’s most exciting estates.

RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France

Rated estate (2020 guide): 3 stars (These represent the pinnacle of French winemaking. The finest terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical experience)

About the estate:

What an incredible journey Stéphane Tissot has been on since 1990! The vineyard’s transition to organic farming began in 1999, and today it is cultivated biodynamically. Regardless of the type of wine, everything is managed with talent and sensitivity, and the flavors are of perfect integrity. The Macvin wines are the finest in the region. The rustic character often imparted by the pomace is here wonderfully integrated! The reds and oxidative wines have acquired an unforgettable finesse and freedom of expression. The meticulousness of the work and the kaleidoscopic depth of the range unquestionably place the estate at the pinnacle of regional production.

Needs a long aeration period in a decanter. Needs time to settle; its “rustic” character bothered me, and the fruit was too subdued—I admit I was disappointed. Worth tasting again!

Almost nonexistent. Where is the Poulsard's character? And why all the praise?

A smooth texture, with aromas of sloes, fruit, and flowers—it's very unique, but I loved it!
