Domaine de Montcy - Cheverny Tradition blanc 2018
14,5/20
RVF
“A lively 2018 that avoids becoming overly rich from the sun. With crisp fruit and no pretensions, it’s ready to drink now.” (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2020 - RVF) This small appellation in the Loire Valley produces a white wine with a pale yellow, slightly brilliant color and a complex, aromatic nose featuring hints of acacia and the primary aromas of Sauvignon Blanc. The palate is round, clean, and generous with notes of dried fruit, leading to a supple, balanced, and lingering finish. It has everything going for it!

About the estate:
Vincent Hayer, who served as the estate’s operations director for nearly 20 years, took over management of the property in 2020. The estate, formerly a vineyard belonging to Château de Troussay, has been certified organic since 2012 and biodynamic since 2015. Owned by the deeply committed Chevrier family, the estate spans 30 hectares divided between Cour-Cheverny and Cheverny, featuring notably very old Sauvignon vines.

About the wine:
A lively 2018 that doesn't veer into excessive richness. With crisp fruit flavors and no pretensions, it's ready to drink now.
About the estate:
With the departure of Italian Laura Semeria, a new chapter begins at the Montcy estate. [...] a family of investors from Orléans has stepped in to steer the future of this biodynamically farmed property in Cheverny. The wines presented retain an authentic character and aromas, without any pretension. They respect the aging process and the identity of the Sauvignon and Chardonnay for the whites; and the Pinot Noir and Gamay for the reds. Let’s observe the transition...
