"A Pinot Noir from the Loire region with great finesse"

When Ampelidae was founded, the estate cultivated a half-hectare plot, whose cadastral number—1328—gave this great cuvée its name. A historic wine featuring a subtle balance between ripe berries and sweet spices, it possesses extraordinary body and perfectly integrated oak. The palate displays rare finesse, culminating in a sumptuous finish that is both refined and long. The meticulous aging process bodes well for its aging potential.

About the estate:

At the age of twenty-three, while writing his doctoral dissertation in oenology, Frédéric Brochet established his small winery using the 49 ares of vineyards inherited from his father. This marked the beginning of Ampelidæ, which took shape in the family cellar at La Mailleterie. Since 2004, with the support of the Meuli family and a group of winemakers from the Vienne region, his vineyard has expanded to 90 hectares cultivated organically, spread over approximately thirty kilometers around Jaunay-Marigny and distributed across several properties, complemented by a wine trading business.

Review by Mr. GILLES D. Published on April 23, 2025

Charming and harmonious, this cuvée beautifully combines power and fullness with delicacy and well-balanced fruit. On the palate, it is full-bodied, supple, and smooth, with great finesse and a taffeta-like mouthfeel; its aromatic complexity unfolds over a base of sweet red and black fruits, enhanced by subtle notes of forest floor and cocoa. The rich, deep, and enveloping tannins carry the intensely fragrant finish far into the aftertaste. The presentation is elegant, just like the wine itself. A rare find for a 100% Pinot Noir: guaranteed enjoyment at a moderate price. Pair with veal cutlets in a sauce of fresh morel mushrooms. Rating = 4.3.
