Domaine Ampelidae
Ampelidae (from the Greek word "Ampelos," meaning "vine") is a pioneer of organic viticulture in the Loire Valley. The Meuli family officially took the reins of the venture in 2020, joined by their daughter Izzy and Gilles de Bollardière. Together, the four of them are bringing a new energy to the project by crafting exceptional wines through an innovative, holistic approach that prioritizes respect for the environment.
The vineyard is now one of the largest in the Loire Valley, covering 100 hectares and comprising five estates, three of which are exclusive: La Mailleterie; Le Manoir de Lavauguyot, established on the southern slope since 1085 and the birthplace of the project; and Le Château des Roches, the driving force behind its development. The vineyard’s geological structure makes it ideal for growing a variety of grape varieties, with Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris predominating, along with Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc.
Ampelidæ is committed to producing wines that respect their terroir (certified organic), their era (minimal use of sulfites, commitment to social and economic sustainability...), and people (from suppliers to consumers): contemporary wines, in short.
