“A Pinot Noir from the Loire region of great finesse”

When Ampelidae was founded, the estate cultivated a half-hectare plot, whose cadastral number—1328—gave this great cuvée its name. A historic wine with a subtle balance of ripe berries and sweet spices, it possesses extraordinary body and perfectly integrated oak. The palate displays rare finesse, culminating in a sumptuous finish of elegance and length. The meticulous aging process offers excellent prospects for aging potential.

Rated estate (2025 guide) Mentioned (Successful wine)

About the estate:

At the age of twenty-three, while writing his doctoral thesis in oenology, Frédéric Brochet established his small winery using the 49 ares of vineyards inherited from his father. This marked the beginning of Ampelidæ, born in the family cellar at La Mailleterie. Since 2004, supported by the Meuli family and a group of winemakers from the Vienne region, his vineyard covers 90 hectares cultivated organically, spread over some thirty kilometers around Jaunay-Marigny and distributed across several properties, complemented by a wine trading business.

Charming and harmonious, this cuvée beautifully combines power and fullness with delicacy and a fine balance of fruit. The palate is full-bodied, supple, and smooth, with great finesse and a velvety texture; aromatic complexity unfolds over a base of sweet red and black fruits, enhanced by subtle notes of forest floor and cocoa. The thick, deep, and enveloping tannins carry the intensely fragrant finish far into the finish. Elegant presentation, reflecting the wine itself. A rarity for a 100% Pinot Noir: guaranteed pleasure at a moderate price. Pairs well with veal cutlets in fresh morel cream sauce. Rating = 4.3.
