Rated wine (2023 guide) 1*Star (2020 vintage) (A very successful wine)

Rated estate (2026 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the estate:

A native of the Oise region, Xavier Weisskopf established his vineyard (17 hectares of organic land) in 2005. Nothing initially pointed him toward this career, but his studies in Chablis introduced him to the world of wine, which led him to the “Viti” in Beaune, then to Gigondas, and finally to the banks of the Loire.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 90/100 (2020 vintage)

Rated estate (2026 guide) 1*Star (Rising stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a good standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

Starting out with limited resources in a makeshift cellar in 2005, Clémence and Xavier Weisskopf have succeeded, through courage and tenacity, in building their own vineyard. For several years now, they have been among the leading producers in Montlouis-sur-Loire. The 17 hectares, spread between Montlouis and Touraine, are cultivated Organic. Touche Mitaine (flint-rich clay), Les Borderies (clay-limestone, 40-year-old vines), Le Grand Poirier (sandy clay, 67-year-old vines)... A myriad of terroirs has been captured in the bottle, in whites that emphasize aromatic nuance, delicacy, and the authentic expression of Chenin—whether dry or with residual sugar, depending on the character of the vintage. These are wines of great sincerity that delight the palate!

Review by Mr. GILLES D. Published on May 21, 2025

Here is an intriguing 100% Malbec from the Loire Valley, carefully crafted and aged, showcasing the vintage’s lively and fresh structure and a dense, straightforward palate, framed by tight, silky tannins, with subtly extracted fruit (blackcurrant, blackberry, and plum, in particular), and subtle smoky notes. The wine is full-bodied, light, and a touch rustic for my taste, ending quickly with a slightly chalky finish. The price is a bit overrated. This young Touraine was paired with a forest-style entrecôte. Rating = 3.5.
