Domaine Grand Veneur - Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes rouge 2021
92/100
Wine Spectator
"Châteauneuf du Pape enthusiasts should have this bottle in their cellar!"
What a beautiful Châteauneuf du Pape! A sublime aromatic palette that promises great things to come for this 2021 vintage. In its youth, this cuvée highlights notes of spice, ripe fruit, and vanilla. The length is magnificent with a very appreciable salinity and smoothness. This is definitely a wine to have in your cellar and even to forget about for a few years so you can rediscover it later!

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2020 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About the estate:
A key figure in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Tavel, Alain Jaume runs a high-quality wine business with his family, as well as owning some beautiful vineyards in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes du Rhône. Their main source of pride is the Grand-Venu wine, a classic Châteauneuf. The Clos de Sixte, the family estate located in Tavel, offers a beautiful example of the cru, while in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the cuvée from old vines is one of the finest wines in the appellation. The future of the estate is brilliantly assured by Alain Jaume's children.

About the estate:
Originally from Castelpapale, Alain Jaume and his sons, Sébastien and Christophe, continue a winemaking tradition that dates back to 1826. They organically cultivate 155 hectares of vineyards spread across four estates: Grand Veneur in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Clos de Sixte in Lirac, Ch. Mazane in Vacqueyras, and Dom. la Grangette Saint-Joseph in the Côtes-du-Rhône AOC, all complemented by a wine merchant business. A sure bet.

4-star rated estate (Very high quality production)
About the estate:
The Jaume family has been involved in winemaking "since Mathieu Jaume decided to cultivate vines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape in 1826." Odile and Alain Jaume and their sons, Christophe and Sébastien, now run a 70-hectare vineyard (Domaine Grand Veneur, Clos de Sixte), which also produces Lirac and Côtes du Rhône appellations. Grenache Noir and Syrah are naturally the dominant grape varieties. The estate began its transition to organic farming in 2009.
