"With its original aromas of bitter orange, cypress and plum in alcohol, the bouquet intrigues as much as it charms. Ample and powerful on the attack, the palate unfurls a tasty, loose texture, supported by silky tannins and enhanced by a warm touch of garrigue that makes us see the country. A fine ambassador for Gigondas, ready for the table". (Le Guide Hachette 2024)

Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (2020 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one has the right to expect from its appellation(s))
About the domain :
A key figure in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Tavel, Alain Jaume's family runs a top-quality wine merchant business, as well as owning fine vineyards in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes du Rhône. Their main source of pride is the grand-veneur wine, a classic Châteauneuf. Clos de Sixte, the family estate in Tavel, offers a fine image of the cru, while in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the cuvée de vieilles-vignes is one of the appellation's finest wines. The estate's destiny is being brilliantly assured by Alain Jaume's children.
Decanter
Wine rated (2022 guide) 92/100
About the wine:
Bright black cherry with a touch of raspberry juice that enhances the fruit aromas. The style is fine, rather reduced, but well-balanced and drinkable. Lively acidity. The tannins are a little knotty, but otherwise this wine is elegant, charming and easy-drinking - a success for the vintage.

About the domain :
Of Castelpapal origin, Alain Jaume and his sons, Sébastien and Christophe, perpetuate a winegrowing tradition that dates back to 1826. They manage a 155-hectare organic vineyard spread over 4 estates: Grand Veneur in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Clos de Sixte in Lirac, Ch. Mazane in Vacqueyras, and Dom. la Grangette Saint-Joseph in AOC Côtes-du-Rhône, all complemented by a trading activity. A sure bet.

Lovely black fruit nose with notes of canned strawberry, licorice and earth. Juicy palate with lots of black fruit, blackcurrant, herbs, round tannins and a touch of acidity - lots of fun and a very attractive style.
