"A dense, elegant vintage".

"A dense, fleshy, generous Vacqueyras with aromas of blackberries, black cherries, thyme and warm spices. Full-bodied on the palate, with fine, firm tannins. This is a fleshy, energetic wine, with structure and a lively flow of berries and peppercorns on the lingering finish." (James Suckling 2025)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (2020 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one has the right to expect from its appellation(s))

About the domain :

A key figure in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Tavel, Alain Jaume's family runs a top-quality wine merchant business, as well as owning fine vineyards in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes du Rhône. Their main source of pride is the grand-veneur wine, a classic Châteauneuf. Clos de Sixte, the family estate in Tavel, offers a fine image of the cru, while in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the cuvée de vieilles-vignes is one of the appellation's finest wines. The estate's destiny is being brilliantly assured by Alain Jaume's children.

About the domain :

Of Castelpapal origin, Alain Jaume and his sons, Sébastien and Christophe, perpetuate a winegrowing tradition that dates back to 1826. They manage a 155-hectare organic vineyard spread over 4 estates: Grand Veneur in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Clos de Sixte in Lirac, Ch. Mazane in Vacqueyras, and Dom. la Grangette Saint-Joseph in AOC Côtes-du-Rhône, all complemented by a trading activity. A sure bet.
