About the wine:

A blend of the 2015 and 2016 vintages, SM is composed of equal parts Grenache and Syrah, aged in tanks and barrels. A powerful nose of blackcurrant, ground black pepper, garrigue, and olive tapenade gives rise to a ripe, round, medium-bodied to full-bodied wine, with good acidity, well-structured tannins, a smooth and light texture, and a lovely finish. It is a unique wine, reminiscent of Syrah from the northern Rhône with a touch of roundness and sensuality, combined with the opulent style of the south. It will age well for 10 years.

Another tasting that confirms the previous one. A decent wine, but hardly any better than other Côtes du Rhône wines that cost half as much. The reputation of X Vignon—who, incidentally, produces some small masterpieces—artificially inflates the price of this wine, which should stay under 10 euros, not at 15, a price it doesn’t deserve. At this price—which is too high—I won’t be buying it again (it doesn’t measure up). So, 3 stars given the disappointment. Xavier V has better wines at nearly the same price. Don’t let this go to your head!
