“S for Northern and M for Southern”
"A blend of 50% Syrah from the northern Rhône and 50% Grenache from the southern Rhône, SM Version 2 is a fascinating wine that combines smoky, peppery, and herbaceous notes with ripe black cherries. Full-bodied, lush, and velvety, Vignon might say it’s “more 2016 than 2015” in style, but no matter how you describe it, it’s a charming and complex wine” (Wine Advocate - Joe Czerwinski) A fascinating wine to discover!

About the wine:
A blend of the 2015 and 2016 vintages, SM is composed of equal parts Grenache and Syrah, aged in tanks and barrels. A powerful nose of blackcurrant, ground black pepper, garrigue, and olive tapenade gives rise to a ripe, round, medium-bodied to full-bodied wine, with good acidity, well-structured tannins, a smooth and light texture, and a lovely finish. This is a unique wine, reminiscent of Syrah from the northern Rhône with a touch of roundness and sexiness, and the opulent style of the south. It will age well for 10 years.

Another tasting confirms the previous one. It’s a decent wine, but hardly any better than other Côtes du Rhône wines that cost half as much. The reputation of Xavier Vignon—who produces some real gems elsewhere—artificially inflates the price of this wine, which should stay under 10 euros, not 15, which it doesn’t deserve. At this price—which is too high—I won’t be buying it again (it doesn’t measure up). So 3 stars given the disappointment. Xavier V has better wines at nearly the same price. Don’t let this go to your head!

Complex, with notes of red berries and a hint of licorice on the finish, this blend is surprising and very pleasant; it can easily be cellared for a while. Daniel

A wine that combines power and richness. Very enjoyable, with plenty of room to age.

We were more drawn to the "mysterious" approach because this wine doesn't really reflect the typical character of the terroir. Instead, it offers classic Syrah flavors. A high-quality wine. 17/20.

Very disappointed after Parker's very favorable rating; no aromatic richness, and the palate was just as disappointing.
