“This cuvée, made from Grenache (80%), Syrah (15%), and a touch of Mourvèdre, displays the precision of a metronome. The jury appreciated its clear, distinctive expression of thyme, black berries, and toasted spices. Delicate, supple, and caressing, the palate unfolds notes of blackcurrant paste, supported by soft tannins and subtle oak with hints of dried fruit. A balanced and indulgent Gigondas, true to its vintage.” (Le Guide Hachette 2023).

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2020 guide) 1*Star (A high-quality, recommendable wine that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About the estate:
A leading figure in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Tavel, Alain Jaume runs a family-owned business focused on high-quality wine trading as well as their own exceptional vineyards in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and the Côtes du Rhône. Their greatest source of pride is the Vin du Grand-Veneur, a classic Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Clos de Sixte, the family estate located in Tavel, offers a fine representation of the terroir, while in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the old-vine cuvée ranks among the appellation’s finest wines. The estate’s future is brilliantly secured by Alain Jaume’s children.

Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the wine:
This cuvée, made from Grenache (80%), Syrah (15%), and a touch of Mourvèdre, displays the precision of a metronome. The jury appreciated its clear, distinctive expression of juniper, black berries, and toasted spices. Delicate, supple, and caressing, the palate unfolds notes of blackcurrant paste, supported by soft tannins and subtle oak with hints of dried fruit. A balanced and indulgent Gigondas, perfectly in tune with its vintage.
About the estate:
Originally from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Alain Jaume and his sons, Sébastien and Christophe, carry on a winemaking tradition dating back to 1826. They cultivate 155 hectares of organic vineyards spread across four estates: Grand Veneur in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Clos de Sixte in Lirac, Ch. Mazane in Vacqueyras, and Dom. la Grangette Saint-Joseph in the Côtes-du-Rhône AOC, all complemented by a wine merchant business. A sure bet.
Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
4-star rated estate (Very high-quality production)
About the estate:
In the Jaume family, they have been winemakers "...ever since Mathieu Jaume decided to plant vines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape in 1826." Odile and Alain Jaume and their sons, Christophe and Sébastien, now manage a 70-hectare vineyard (Domaine Grand Veneur, Clos de Sixte) that also produces wines under the Lirac and Côtes du Rhône appellations. As expected, Grenache Noir and Syrah dominate the vineyard’s grape varieties. The estate began transitioning to organic farming in 2009.

About the estate:
Vinous
Wine rated (2023 guide) 91/100
About the wine:
Opaque magenta. Expressive aromas of red and black berries with smoky undertones are very pronounced and develop notes of black pepper and licorice upon aeration. Supple and full-bodied on the palate, this wine offers sumptuous flavors of cherry and black raspberry with a touch of succulent herbs. The finish is smooth and long, with well-balanced tannins and lingering notes of cherry and spice.
James Suckling
Wine rated (2022 guide) 89/100
About the wine:
A bold, slightly rustic red wine from the Southern Rhône, with aromas ranging from redcurrant to fig and blackberry. Medium-bodied, it offers a herbaceous freshness and a slightly drying finish. Best enjoyed now.
