Jean-Michel Parcé presents a new cuvée called "Le Petit Parcé" from this excellent 2010 vintage in Roussillon, which he chose to craft with an eye toward enjoyment, just as he does with his Collioure cuvées. Here, then, is a Côtes du Roussillon (Syrah, Mourvèdre) that opens with a lovely fruity nose and an elegant palate offering roundness and smoothness. A wine of pure pleasure!

Rated 2** stars (Successful production)

About the estate:

Dr. Parcé had undeniably left his mark on the estate and the Banyuls appellation as a whole, which is rooted in its magnificent schist terroirs. As for the Collioures—that is, the dry wines produced in the same geographical area—they have so far provided a good indication of this terroir and its potential. The challenge is great for Jean-Michel Parcé, the son, to maintain this high standard of quality.

Rated estate (2011 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the estate:

Le Mas Blanc boasts the largest vineyards in Banyuls. It has been owned by the same family since 1639—the Parcé family, led by Dr. Parcé, a prominent local figure who passed away in 1998 and who played a leading role in the estate for many years.
