Domaine Cordier Père et Fils
Domaine Cordier is a family-owned estate located in Burgundy, in the village of Fuissé, at the heart of the Mâconnais region’s finest terroirs. The estate is led by Christophe Cordier, a passionate winemaker who loves to highlight the terroirs and bring out their full potential. The estate produces exceptional white wines made from the Chardonnay grape, often compared to the finest Grands Crus.
Like all great wine houses, Domaine Cordier devotes all the necessary attention and expertise to the production of its wines. Pruning, carried out in a highly personal style; green harvesting practices (thinning followed by debudding); the use of compost rather than chemical fertilizers; and hand-harvesting, plot by plot—all these practices illustrate the high standards upheld at the estate. In winemaking, similarly, the exclusive use of native lees and indigenous yeasts demonstrates just how committed Christophe Cordier is to preserving the character and identity of his wines. This meticulous work is tailored to each plot, each grape, and each wine
Domaine Cordier cultivates about a hundred plots, scattered across the hillsides of the Mâconnais region. A mosaic of vineyards, a mosaic of terroirs—a true treasure for Christophe Cordier, who takes pleasure in working with this diversity. The young winemaker enjoys cultivating different types of soil (primary, secondary, and tertiary) across small plots. It’s as if each plot were a challenge. “It’s a logistical challenge,” he acknowledges, but it’s a strategic choice for the estate, which aspires to create the finest wines of the Mâconnais region. A mosaic of 100 plots spread across seven municipalities: Fuissé, Charnay-les-Mâcon, Loché, Leynes, Chasselas, Vergisson, and Davayé.
In 2003,Christophe Cordier founded a small “haute couture” wine merchant business, specializing in high-quality white wines from Burgundy and Beaujolais. Christophe Cordier selects the finest terroirs to offer his customers the diversity and richness of the Burgundy and Beaujolais vineyards. The wines produced (Saint-Véran, Pouilly-Fuissé, Viré-Clessé, etc.) are vinified and aged under Christophe Cordier’s supervision at the Domaine Cordier cellar, using exclusively natural yeasts and matured in barrels on the full lees. The work of a true enthusiast.
