“Bite into wild blackberries and fresh strawberries—a real treat, according to Suckling!”

“On the nose, aromas of blackberries and ripe strawberries, along with a touch of freshness and subtle spicy notes, such as cloves. There are also hints of violet. A medium-bodied wine with a lovely texture and great finesse. Both creamy and velvety, yet understated and elegant. It will need another two or three years, but it’s already a real pleasure to drink.” (James Suckling 2025)

Rated estate (2022 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the estate:

The estate is now led by Frédéric Drouhin, supported by his sister Véronique for the wines and his brother Philippe in the vineyards. In July 2013, it opened a wine bar in the heart of Beaune. It has found its stride and has established itself as a sure bet. The estate draws on a biodynamic vineyard particularly well-stocked with great white wines, in the Côte-de-Beaune as well as in Chablis (wines sold under the Drouhin-Vaudon label), including the famous Clos des Mouches.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 16+/20

About the wine:

Earthy, grounded, powerful, with equatorial breadth and a solid presence on the palate. A wine with aromas of earth and mushroom compost, mushrooms and marrow, hawthorn berries, and the lively, bitter, scarlet note of holly berries. A wine that seems to carry the scent of winter within it. Taut, astringent tannins that shape a taut, astringent finish. 2028–2035

Wine rated (2025 guide) 90-92/100

About the wine:

Made from grapes sourced from several growers, the 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Village offers a delicious, pure bouquet with fragrant notes of red cherry and crushed strawberry. The palate is very clean, with fine tannins, lively acidity, and a nice mouthfeel that leads to a refreshing finish. To be honest, I didn’t expect it to be this good! 2026–2036
