"Bite into wild blackberries and fresh strawberries—a real treat, according to Suckling!"

“On the nose, aromas of black berries and ripe strawberries, along with a touch of freshness and subtle spicy notes, such as cloves. Hints of violet are also present. A medium-bodied wine with a lovely texture and great finesse. It is both creamy and velvety, yet remains understated and elegant. It will need another two or three years, but it’s already a real pleasure to drink.” (James Suckling 2025)

Rated Estate (2022 Guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the estate:

This winery is now led by Frédéric Drouhin, supported by his sister Véronique for the wines and by his brother Philippe in the vineyards. In July 2013, it opened a wine bar in the heart of Beaune. It has found its stride and is establishing itself as a sure bet. The winery draws on a biodynamic vineyard that is particularly rich in great white wines, both in the Côte-de-Beaune and in Chablis (wines sold under the Drouhin-Vaudon label), including the famous Clos des Mouches.

Jancis Robinson

Jancis Robinson

Wine rated (2024 guide) 16+/20

About the wine:

Earthy, grounded, powerful, with equatorial breadth and a solid presence on the palate. A wine with aromas of potting soil and mushroom compost, mushrooms and bone marrow, hawthorn berries, and the lively, bitter, scarlet note of holly berries. A wine that seems to carry the scent of winter within it. Taut, astringent tannins that shape a taut, astringent finish. 2028–2035

About the wine:

Made from grapes sourced from several winegrowers, the 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Village offers a delicious, pure bouquet with fragrant notes of red cherry and crushed strawberry. On the palate, it is very clean, with fine tannins, lively acidity, and a lovely mouthfeel that leads to a refreshing finish. To be honest, I didn’t expect it to be this good! 2026–2036
