"Going beyond its appellation, this Saint-Romain—delicious today—can be cellared for a few years!"

“A wine with lovely aromas of forest floor, moss, and raspberries, with spicy, vanilla, and mineral notes. Medium-bodied, lively, and round on the palate. Beautiful texture and nuance in a long yet delicate finish. Made from organically grown grapes. Ready to drink now or for aging.” (James Suckling 2026)

Rated estate (2023 guide): 3*Stars (High-quality production that serves as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

Frédérick and Franck Buisson, whose family has lived in the village since the 12th century, represent the eighth generation of winemakers at this historic estate in Saint-Romain. Écocert-certified since 2012, they practice viticulture and winemaking using the most natural methods possible. The red wines, which always contain a small proportion of whole clusters, offer a precise reflection of their terroir, championing the rediscovery of a Saint-Romain that we have rarely seen at this level. The precise white wines are no less impressive.

Rated Estate (2023 Guide) 1*Star (Rising stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

Powerful and with a distinct character, Sous Roche stands out for its restrained body, accompanied by firm, youthful tannins that will mellow in two or three years.

About the estate:

Frédéric, the winemaker, and Franck, the sales representative, manage one of the largest estates in the southern part of the Côte de Beaune. Having practiced organic farming—certified since 2009—they made the transition to biodynamic farming in 2018. For the past ten years, they have been following the lunar calendar for bottling. Their meticulous work in the vineyard and cellar allows them to produce deep, distinguished wines that age well. This estate beautifully showcases the Saint-Romain appellation in both reds and whites; the wines are refined, precise, and elegant. A range of wines that fully deserves its first star.
