Domaine de la Croix Senaillet - Saint-Véran Sur La Carrière 2022
91/100
Vinous
"This micro-parcel lives up to its name: this Chardonnay overlooks an ancient medieval clay quarry, giving it sublime freshness and striking minerality!"
The Saint-Véran Sur La Carrière 2022 has a lively, fairly mineral bouquet that opens up confidently in the glass. Lemon sorbet mingles with orange zest and crushed stone. The palate is balanced and impressively concentrated. The oak brings a subtly creamy texture. The acidity is fine, the wine has weight, but it needs 12 more months in the bottle to fully assimilate the wood. 2026-2040" (Vinous 2024)

About the estate:
The Dom. de la Croix Senaillet was founded in 1969 by Maurice Martin, who gradually abandoned mixed farming in favor of viticulture. In 1990, his son Richard took over the family estate, before being joined by his brother Stéphane in 1992. The property, which initially covered 6.5 hectares, has expanded to 25 hectares today, spread over 52 plots that have been certified organic since 2010. Building on their experience, in 2015 the brothers acquired Dom. de Mont Épin in Clessé (13 hectares).
