Domaine de la Croix Senaillet - Saint-Véran Sur La Carrière 2022
91/100
Vinous
"This micro-parcel is aptly named, as this Chardonnay overlooks an ancient medieval clay quarry, giving it a sublime freshness and striking minerality!"
"Saint-Véran Sur La Carrière 2022 has a lively, quite mineral bouquet that opens confidently in the glass. Lemon sorbet mingles with orange zest and crushed stone. The palate is balanced and impressively concentrated. Oak adds a subtly creamy texture. The acidity is fine, the wine has weight, but needs another 12 months in bottle to fully assimilate the wood. 2026-2040" (Vinous 2024)

About the domain :
Dom. de la Croix Senaillet was founded in 1969 by Maurice Martin, who gradually abandoned mixed farming in favor of vines. In 1990, his son Richard took over the family estate, before being joined by his brother Stéphane in 1992. The property, initially 6.5 ha, has grown to 25 ha today, spread over 52 parcels that have been certified organic since 2010. Building on their experience, in 2015 the brothers acquired Dom. de Mont Épin in Clessé (13 ha).
