Champagne Janisson-Baradon & Fils - Les Toulettes Blanc de Blancs Brut 2004
Notes: RVF 16.5/20, Terre de Vins 15.5/20
The house’s sublime Blanc de Blancs, now in its new 2004 vintage! This cuvée is made from very old Chardonnay vines planted in 1947, on the " Les Toulettes " plot, the estate's finest. They produce this 100% Chardonnay in very small quantities, making it only in exceptional vintages. This 2004 vintage follows the "collector's item" 2000. A rare Blanc de Blancs to be savored with passion!

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
Located on the hills above Épernay, the Janisson-Baradon estate is run by Richard Janisson and his two sons, Maxence and Cyril. The vineyard comprises 9 hectares of hillsides surrounding the Champagne capital, tended with care and attention. The Janissons have intelligently modernized the style of their wines, and once again this year, the single-vineyard selections stood out at the tasting, with champagnes of assertive character that retain the region’s characteristic suppleness. A sure bet.

Estate rated 1*Star (High-quality production)
About the estate:
Founded in 1922 by Georges Baradon, a bottle-turner, and his son-in-law, Maurice Janisson, a cooper, the winery is still run by the Janisson family, who cultivate just over 9 hectares of vineyards on the western slopes of Épernay, in Chouilly and Brimont. The vineyard has been maintained through soil cultivation since 1997, without the use of any herbicides. Most of the vintages are a blend of equal parts Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

One of the most fabulous champagnes I've ever tasted, and without a doubt the one with the most character. Extraordinary!
