Champagne Janisson-Baradon & Fils - Toulette Blanc de Blancs Brut 2005
“This champagne boasts a golden hue, dotted with fine bubbles; its generous bouquet blends baked and candied fruits with notes of toasty brioche. This complex, rich character carries through to a palate that is full-bodied, round, and fresh. Enjoy it now.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2013)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
Located on the hills above Épernay, the Janisson-Baradon estate is run by Richard Janisson and his two sons, Maxence and Cyril. The vineyard comprises 9 hectares of hillsides surrounding the Champagne capital, tended with care and attention. The Janissons have intelligently modernized the style of their wines, and once again this year, the single-vineyard selections stood out at the tasting, with champagnes of assertive character that retain the region’s characteristic suppleness. A sure bet.

Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Estate rated 1*Star (High-quality production)
About the estate:
Founded in 1922 by Georges Baradon, a bottle-turner, and his son-in-law, Maurice Janisson, a cooper, the winery is still run by the Janisson family, who cultivate just over 9 hectares of vineyards on the western slopes of Épernay, in Chouilly and Brimont. The vineyard has been maintained through soil cultivation since 1997, without the use of any herbicides. Most of the vintages are a blend of equal parts Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

While it may not reach the heights of the 2004 Toulettes, this vintage is still a safe bet!
