Champagne Janisson-Baradon & Fils - Les Toulettes Blanc de Blancs Brut 2000
Ratings: Gault Millau 18.5/20, Gilbert & Gaillard 90/100, Le Point 17/20, Vinalies Award of Excellence
Very old Chardonnay vines planted in 1947 produce, with very low yields, this 100% Chardonnay from the “Les Toulettes ” plot, the estate’s finest. This "collector's" 2000 vintage is now ready to be enjoyed after seven years spent in the darkness of the chalk cellars at Janisson-Baradon. A superb Blanc de Blancs to discover for the holidays!

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
Located on the hills above Épernay, the Janisson-Baradon estate is run by Richard Janisson and his two sons, Maxence and Cyril. The vineyard comprises 9 hectares of hillsides surrounding the Champagne capital, tended with care and attention. The Janissons have intelligently modernized the style of their wines, and once again this year, the single-vineyard selections stood out at the tasting, with champagnes of assertive character that retain the region’s characteristic suppleness. A sure bet.

Estate rated 1*Star (High-quality production)
About the estate:
Founded in 1922 by Georges Baradon, a bottle-turner, and his son-in-law, Maurice Janisson, a cooper, the winery is still run by the Janisson family, who cultivate just over 9 hectares of vineyards on the western slopes of Épernay, in Chouilly and Brimont. The vineyard has been maintained through soil cultivation since 1997, without the use of any herbicides. Most of the vintages are a blend of equal parts Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

One of the best Blanc de Blancs I've ever tasted! It pairs beautifully with seafood.
