“The 2006 single-vineyard wines: a vintage that reveals notes of quince and crabapple in the Toulette, with a hint of maturation that lends distinction to its full-bodied palate. ” (The Guide to the Best Wines of France 2015 - RVF). The palate is elegant, dense, and powerful all at once, with excellent freshness and a lovely, long finish. A true embodiment of Champagne elegance!

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2016 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)
Rated 2 stars (A solid, recommendable production, though slightly more conventional and uniform than the previous one)
About the wine:
Made entirely from Chardonnay, this wine is a delight, combining richness and finesse.
About the estate:
Located on the hills above Épernay, the Janisson-Baradon estate is run by Richard Janisson and his two sons, Maxence and Cyril. The vineyard comprises 9 hectares of hillsides surrounding the Champagne capital, tended with care and attention. The Janissons have intelligently modernized the style of their wines, and once again this year, the single-vineyard selections stood out during the tasting, with champagnes of assertive character that retain the region’s characteristic suppleness. A sure bet.

Estate rated 1*Star (High-quality production)
About the estate:
Founded in 1922 by Georges Baradon, a bottle-turner, and his son-in-law, Maurice Janisson, a cooper, the winery is still run by the Janisson family, who cultivate just over 9 hectares of vineyards on the western slopes of Épernay, in Chouilly and Brimont. The vineyard has been maintained through soil cultivation since 1997, without the use of any herbicides. Most of the vintages are a blend of equal parts Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

9.3: An original champagne whose nose is more reminiscent of Pouligny-Montrachet, with notes of dry hay, wilted flowers, tropical fruit, and mineral notes, and without the usual presence of the pastry and buttery notes typical of Champagne. Excellent on the palate with rather soft carbonation—not at all explosive and well-integrated—but with good structure and excellent acidity that doesn’t reach the citrusy edge found in most champagnes. In short, a wine-like champagne that breaks the mold.

Straightforward and neutral on the nose After a bit of aeration, some winey character in the finish, but with some odd aromas. Not convinced at this price point.
