Corbières - Boutenac
The Corbières-Boutenac AOC is the first municipal appellation in the Corbières region. Centered around the “Pinada”—the pine forest of Boutenac—it encompasses 220 hectares spread across a dozen municipalities surrounding the hill. Since its official recognition in 2005,the Corbières–Boutenac AOC has included some thirty producers, comprising winegrowers, cooperatives, and wine merchants. Thanks to the soils—composed of continental and marine Miocene molasse deposits, sandstone, Carcassonne molasse, and Hettangian dolomitic limestone—combined with a typically Mediterranean climate, the Carignan, Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre vines express their full potential. The wines are aromatic and develop a mineral character, with excellent aging potential, retaining freshness and beautiful acidity. The Corbières-Boutenac AOC primarily produces red wines made from a blend of at least two grape varieties, which must include a majority of Carignan, the appellation’s iconic grape variety.
