“A wonderful introduction to the appellation!”

"This vintage offers fabulous cherry fruit, with hints of blueberry and garrigue. It is full-bodied, rich, velvety, and well-balanced. It is neither too powerful nor too tannic; it is simply delicious." (Wine Advocate 2024)

Rated estate (2022 guide) 2*Stars (A solid, recommendable vintage, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

This family-run estate, now in its third generation, produces a wide range of full-bodied wines across some 70 hectares, in a modern and ambitious style that ranks them among the must-try wines of the Ventoux region. Now managed by Frédéric and Alexandre Chaudière, the vineyard features nine grape varieties grown on clay-limestone gravel slopes at an altitude of 300 meters. The wines are vinified with care.

Rated Estate (2023 Guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the estate:

The history of this estate began in the 1970s, when the Chaudière grandparents restored the château and part of the vineyard. Paul and Edith then set the course by leaving the cooperative and focusing on terroir selection. Since 2000, their sons, Frédéric and Alexandre, have been overseeing the future of this vast vineyard. We are captivated by the stylistic shift in the wines: they have truly gained in finesse and flavor, and beautifully reflect the freshness of the terroir.

James Suckling

James Suckling

Wine rated (2024 guide) 93/100

About the wine:

A well-structured, concentrated, and lively Ventoux red, with notes of black cherry, redcurrant, wild herbs, and baking spices. Medium-bodied, with fine-grained tannins. Textured and concentrated, with a crisp, clean character. Lively and well-balanced. Made from organically grown grapes. Vegan. Enjoy now or celller.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 91+/100

About the wine:

The classic Ventoux Terrasses 2022 is a standard blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah that was aged in concrete and stainless steel tanks. Its deep ruby color reveals a ripe, spicy, peppery, and medium-bodied red wine brimming with Provençal charm, featuring ripe tannins, beautifully integrated acidity, and exceptional length. With time, it develops notes of spring flowers and violets, and this is yet another excellent wine from this team that far exceeds expectations.

Ruby color. On the nose: freshly crushed red berries, earthiness, green herbs, terroir. On the palate, it immediately shows good grip thanks to the red berries, the fine acidity, and the good tannin structure. It also has sufficient body, but above all, everything is beautifully balanced and still deliciously young and a bit wild. A characterful and recognizable Ventoux. I’m starting to understand Ventoux more and more! Score: 15.5/20

Review by Mr. Gilles D. Published on November 11, 2024

The understated aging and the warm 2022 vintage enhance the approachable and generous character of this cuvée, which features a palate bursting with red and black fruits infused with delicate spices, notes of garrigue, and smoke, framed by slightly firm yet refined tannins. The supple, full-bodied palate offers a creamy texture that glides over a fluid, fresh structure toward a long, elegant finish. Excellent value for money. A young, approachable, and remarkably effective wine to enjoy without delay among friends with grilled red meat on the BBQ, or with a lovely dish of beef cannelloni topped with Parmesan. Rating = 4.
