"A wonderful introduction to the appellation!"

A blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah, Ventoux Terrasses 2023 is a juicy, pure, medium-bodied wine that perfectly embodies the Ventoux terroir with its vibrant, mineral style. Notes of red and black fruits, peppery garrigue, crushed stone, and spring flowers blossom on the palate. Medium-bodied and wonderfully pure, it has well-integrated acidity and a beautiful finish." Rated estate (2022 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

This family-run estate, now in its third generation, produces a wide range of structured wines on some 70 hectares, in a modern and ambitious style that places them among the must-haves of Ventoux. Now managed by Frédéric and Alexandre Chaudière, the vineyard has nine grape varieties grown on clay-limestone slopes at an altitude of 300 meters. The wines are vinified with great care.

Wine rating (2025 guide) 91/100 (Outstanding wine)

Rated estate (2021 guide) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)

About wine:

Ventoux Terrasses 2023 opens with notes of wild cherry, red plum, garrigue, crushed stone, and a hint of black pepper. Medium-bodied and well-balanced, it offers a precise rather than opulent core of red fruit, framed by fine, chalky tannins and vibrant acidity. This is a balanced and elegant southern Rhône red, less focused on muscular power than on tension and freshness, which should drink nicely over the next 5 to 8 years.

Rated estate (2023 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)

About the estate:

The history of this estate began in the 1970s, when the Chaudière grandparents restored the château and part of the vineyard. Paul and Edith then gave it new impetus by leaving the cooperative and focusing on terroir selection. Since 2000, their sons Frédéric and Alexandre have been overseeing the destiny of this vast vineyard. We are impressed by the stylistic shift in the wines: they have really gained in finesse and flavor, and are a worthy representation of the freshness of the terroir.

Note and opinion by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 12/27/2025

A generous juice with flavors of ripe fruit and spices glides across the palate with a most pleasant sweetness and vibrant acidity that temper the warmth of the vintage. The velvety texture of the dominant Grenache perfectly complements the aromas of a lamb moussaka.
