"A triple 97/100 rating for the estate's oldest Chenin: a wine described as incredible, wonderful, and brilliant."
“The Mev. Kirsten 2024 comes from the oldest Chenin in the Cape, originally planted in 1905, after which every other row was uprooted in 1946. Fun fact: this was the first vineyard in South Africa to be plowed with a tractor. It offers a fragrant bouquet with notes of sea spray, light lanolin, and crushed chalk. The palate is beautifully structured with a marvelous texture, perfectly balanced, and laser-sharp, with a deft touch of lemongrass on the lingering finish. Brilliant. 2027–2049” (Vinous 2025)

About the wine:
The Sadie Family 2024 Stellenbosch Die Distriksreeks Mev. Kirsten features a deep texture and honeyed notes, with remarkable intensity that unfolds on a silky, velvety palate. Despite its richness and density, this wine retains precision and balance, reflecting one of South Africa’s oldest Chenin Blanc vineyards, planted in 1905 and restored with the utmost care. Rooted in clay-rich subsoils, this historic site consistently produces the most powerful and structured Chenin Blanc in The Sadie Family’s range. 2026–2043
